Story of the Day
I went by Portland's Union Station tonight. It had been raining so the pavement reflected the
lights of the city nicely. The overcast was breaking up so the sky was mottled. The track side of
the station was lit and the words "GO BY TRAIN" stood out. There was a train waiting in the
dark waiting to be boarded at some time and then to run off down the tracks across the Steel
Bridge and thence to the south. I took my camera from my backpack and tried to capture some
sense of the scene. I don't yet know if I was successful.
I guess this sort of hints that I take pictures. I have a decent manual camera and I try to capture
some real scenes that snag my fancy. I have been successful at times and at other times I have
taken 'snapshots' or 'postcards'. The 'postcards' look nice but there is nothing special about
them. I don't create images in a darkroom and haven't done any digital manipulation of any
of my shots yet. I will probably try that at sometime but I won't call that photography.
The spider either got tired or starved to death. It is kinda stuck in the corner between the wall
and the ceiling not moving. I'll give it a few days and if it is still there I'll sweep it into the
trash. I don't have a lot of feeling for arthropoda.
