Story of the Day

[Eye Line Here]
It is Sunday evening. Today has in many ways been a typical Portland winter day. We had rain off and on. We had blue sky off and on. We had rainbows off and on. Looking at the hills and mountains to the east when they were visible one could see they had snow on them.

There was no snow at ground level in Portland but for the one exception That I know about. Along Marine drive by the Columbia river in the vicinity of the airport there was an area about 1/4 mile in radius with a thin covering of snow. It was the strangest thing to see such a limited area of coverage. But we have such strange weather here.

I don't intend to always tell what the weather is like here but I have no plan as to what I will write. Just that I will write what I feel like since this is my space. I know there are self imposed constraints on what I write. I will write only what I think appropriate and responsible.

The sound of rain on the roof of a car is so much like the sound of rain on a tin roof. You could think of a car then as being akin to a cheap house. Of course cars are like houses in other respects as well. Some cars are as neat as a pin inside. You can guess what their owners homes look like inside. Others have multicolored damaged finishes akin to peeling paint on an old home. Some have been repainted with little regard for that which was painted over.
Sometimes people live in their cars as though they were in a home because they choose to or are forced to. At those times the true inadequacy of a car for that use becomes apparent. I hope you never are forced into that situation.
